About Alex Jackiw

Alexandra ‘Alex’ Jackiw is the Chief Operating Officer and she manages and oversees all corporate and property operations. Additionally, she is part of the leadership team responsible for the long-term growth and strategic direction of the company.

Prior to HGPS, Alex was most recently President of a property management company where she was responsible for overseeing property operations and asset management functions for the company-owned portfolio and expanding management services to select third-party, institutional clients. At an executive and leadership level, she also worked for several privately-held regional companies as well as large publicly traded investment management firms.  She has experience managing LIHTC communities, HUD-regulated properties, purpose-built student housing, conventional market-rate properties, full-service retirement communities and nursing homes. Her experience includes all aspects of property and asset management, marketing, training, consulting, troubled property turnarounds, and new business development.

Active in professional organizations, Ms. Jackiw served as Chairman of the Board of the National Apartment Association (NAA) in 2013 and President of the NAA Education Institute in 2008/2009.  She is a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management, National Multifamily Housing Council, Housing Education and Research Association, and Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW).  She is Past Chair of the Residential Property Management Advisory Board at Virginia Tech and Past President of the Ball State University Residential Property Management Advisory Board. 

Alex remains active at NAA and recently served as the subject matter expert for both the CAM and CAPS designation program rewrites as well as for a new CAM Student Housing Certificate program. She was one of the lead authors of the recently published Multifamily Housing Industry textbook – a joint effort of the National Multifamily Housing Council, National Apartment Association and Institute of Real Estate Management.  She is also a regular contributor to Rent and Retain magazine.  

Alex is a respected industry speaker and has presented programs to industry trade groups throughout the U.S. and Canada.  She is a licensed real estate broker and holds both the Certified Property Manager (CPM®) and Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) designations. She received the NAAEI Apartment Career and Education (ACE) Award in 2011 in recognition of her commitment to training industry professionals.  In 2012 Real Estate Forum Magazine named Ms. Jackiw a “Woman of Influence in Real Estate” and in 2013 the Institute of Real Estate Management named her as one of the “Women Changing the Face of Property Management.”  She was honored in 2015 as a “Woman of Influence” by the Indianapolis Business Journal.  She was inducted into National Apartment Association Hall of Fame in 2018. Alex is a graduate of the University of Rochester and received her M. Ed. from Ohio University.
